Study suggests B vitamins may lower stroke risk

A new study has suggested that supplementation with B vitamins may reduce the risk of suffering from a stroke.
The study was carried out by a group of researchers at the Zhengzhou University in China, and the findings suggest that B vitamin supplementation lower the risk of stroke by around 7%.
Looking at data from 14 trials involving around 55,000 participants, the researchers studied the health of people who took vitamin B supplements as apposed to those who took a placebo. The results were that those taking the vitamin B were less likely to have a stroke.
More than 150,000 in the UK suffer from a stroke each year, and it is the third largest cause of death in the country. Strokes occur when the blood supply to the brain is affected or blocked.
B vitamins have long been recognised for their importance to health, and are essential for a variety of bodily functions such as blood circulation and energy production.
This latest study further strengthens the support for B vitamins and their significance to our health.
